I think… and … um and… and…考官听到这样的表述就一点也不会impressed or interested in more from you。
在口语评分标准里,要达到6分,就一定要用到不同的连接词和标记词(a range of connectives and discourse markers)。不管是part 2里描述一次失约的经历(a time you missed an important appointment for something), part 3中比较年轻人和老人对古老建筑的看法 (Do you think young people feel the same about old buildings as older people?), 还是part 1里准备开始大侃自己的爱包(what types of bag do you like/use?), 没有了连接词你的所有观点就是一盘散沙,不够清晰整齐,a hot mess!
Q: Describe the accommodation you live in.
A: I live in a house in North Burnaby. My parents and I have lived there ever since we immigrated to Canada years ago. Truth be told, it was a real struggle to find the right place until we spotted that one. We liked it as it is modern, spacious and airy, and there’s parking for two vehicles as well. The only downfall is that it’s near a busy road; but we still bought it regardless. We had to have it furnished as soon as we moved in, and our beds didn’t arrive for weeks; in the meantime, we had no option but to sleep on the floor! It’s been five years so far. On the one hand I’d like to be closer to school, but on the other, we’ve got amazing neighbors and friends here, which is why we can’t afford to move. It seems as if we’ll stay, but even if we sold, we wouldn’t go far.
ever since:自从 Truth be told:说实话(放句首)
as well:也,此外( 放句尾) The only downfall is that:唯一的缺陷是…
regardless:即便如此 as soon as:一…就…
in the meantime:同时 so far:至今
On the one hand…on the other (hand):
which is why: (关系从句)这就是为什么 as if:看似
even if:即使]
•‘How to’ 问题
Q: Do you like inviting people to your home?
✗ A: Yes, I do. Firstly, I can relax and have fun with them. Secondly, we can catch up. Last but not the least, it allows me the opportunity to enjoy friendship.
✔A:Yes, I do. It feels great being able to chill out and catch up on what’s new in each other’s life. Also it allows me the opportunity to enjoy friendship and reconnect with old friends.
