6月份的雅思A类大作文考了这样一道环境类的题目： “In many countries today people are living in a ‘throwaway society’, where things are used in a short time and then thrown away. What are its causes? What are its problems?” ，下面让我们一起来看看这道题目的解析吧！
Nowadays people always throw old things away and buy news things, whereas in the past old things were repaired and used again. What causes this problem? What effects does the phenomenon lead to?
We have developed a "throw-away" society and are filling the environment with many plastic bags and rubbish that we cannot fully dispose of. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? What measures should be taken to combat the problem?
The increasingly improved standard of living: People nowadays have the financial capacity to replace old things if they think these things are worn-out.
The enhanced productivity: Technical innovation has led to the constant upgrading of various goods and lower prices.
People’s low awareness of opportunities to reduce, reuse and recycle waste: Since many people are not environmentally conscious, they fail to have a firm stand against over-consumption and excessive production of disposable items, thereby dispose wastes whenever and wherever they consider convenient.
Pollution: Since people are filling the environment with more rubbish than we can possibly dispose of, pollution is the price human beings are paying for the popular culture of consumerism in the age of mass production. For instance, a set battery could turn fertile lands within square meters into a barren desert.
Health issues: When people incinerate rubbish, harmful gas is released to air. These poisonous substances are likely to lead to severe even fatal health issues, such as lung cancer.
Resource shortage: Because of the soaring demand for new products, the consumption of fuel and raw materials went up year by year, which gave rise to severe shortage of energy and resources.
· Environmental pollution=environmental contamination,
· various environment-related issues,
· environmental conservation/ protection/ preservation,
· solve =resolve =deal with =cope with =tackle,
· the growth of consumerism,
· short-lived or disposable items,
· resources are consumed at an ever-increasing rate,
· optimize our living environment,
· raise the environmental protection awareness amongst the general public,
· people value convenience over environmental protection
